Silk pillowcase beauty benefits.

On average, throughout our lives we spend 26 years sleeping! And if this isn’t shocking enough, we spend an extra 7 years actually trying to get to sleep. This equates to us spending a third of our lives, 12,045 days, or 227,760 hours in bed.

As the quality of our sleep affects our mood, energy and overall well being, these statistics highlight how important it is to invest in the right bedding, to enhance our health as much as we can.

An area of our lives that is highly affected by the bedding we use, is the health and well being of our skin and hair! Did you know, your face has more contact with your pillowcase than any other fabric throughout the day? This accentuates the importance of using good quality bedding that won’t damage your skin.

For this week's featured product, we are introducing our new range of Mulberry Silk pillows and pillowcases, which are part of our up and coming beauty brand Amberelle. As a brand embodying all things beauty, we have decided to bring a collection of silk pillowcases into Amberelle, to protect your skin and hair while you sleep!

Mulberry silk pillowcases not only provide a comfortable night's sleep but are a must have when it comes to healthy hair and skin, providing many benefits to our overall health.

Skin benefits:

Silk has one of the lowest absorption rates of any fabric, meaning that the natural oils on your face, as well as the skincare products you use, remain on your skin and absorb onto your face, rather than being soaked up into your pillowcase. Essentially, this means that when using silk pillowcases, your skin will stay moisturised and hydrated, reducing the need to use moisturisers and other oils on your skin. In contrast to this, cotton pillowcases suck the moisture from your face, causing dry, flaky skin, which leads to permanent damage. As well as this, cotton pillowcases absorb the dirt from your skin, causing breakouts and clogged pores while you sleep. Silk, however, eliminates these issues, keeping your skin soft, hydrated and clean, which  reduces breakouts and clogged pores. Silk also prevents you from waking up with lines on your face, essentially preventing wrinkles, dryness and permanent signs of aging.

Hair benefits:

Silk pillowcases not only benefit your skin, but are also essential for healthy, luscious hair! Silk reduces static and frizz in your hair, which eliminates bedhead. This means you will wake up feeling fresh and ready to go, rather than having to force a comb through the knots that have formed overnight. Silk also contains naturally occurring amino acids that match those found in your hair, keeping your hair smooth and moisturised and reducing knots and split ends. Silk pillowcases are also recommended to prevent hair loss!

Other health benefits:

As well as benefits for your skin and hair, silk pillowcases have many advantages for your overall well being. Silk is naturally resistant to dust mites, fungus, mold and other allergens, making it naturally hypoallergenic, anti-bacterial and anti-microbial, meaning it’s a great solution for those suffering asthma, allergies and hay fever. As well as this, silk doesn’t require any chemically intensive crops, pesticides, herbicides and other chemical treatments, which reduces our exposure to chemicals and makes silk the healthiest fabric on the market.

As we spend a third of our lives in bed, having the right bedding is highly important. Silk pillowcases don’t only add an essential component to your beauty routine, protecting and enhancing your skin and hair while you sleep, but they also improve your overall health and wellbeing. In turn, this helps you get a better night's sleep, increasing energy levels and mood. So, to improve your sleep, and add an essential element to your skincare and beauty routine, checkout our new Mulberry Silk pillowcase collection!
